Pirates And Jets Battle To Stalemate

The Greensburg Pirates traveled to Hauser on Tuesday night to take on the Jets and came away with a 2-2 tie.

Hauser opened up the scoring in the first 10 minutes when they were able to slip passed the defense and get a one on one opportunity with Greensburg goalie, Mason Ponsler. The Pirates fought hard and were able to score the equalizer when junior midfielder Nicholas Zapfe put a shot (unassisted) over the Hauser keeper’s head from around 25 yards out. Later in the half Greensburg took the lead when freshman Brady Hahn played a through ball to Joseph Pacilio who scored his 8th goal of the season. It was Brady’s first assist of the season. Greensburg went into halftime up 2-1.

Hauser made sure it wasn’t tied for long, scoring in the first 3 minutes of the 2nd half. It was a hard fought defensive battle the rest of the way until the final 3 minutes, when Hauser was awarded a penalty kick. Junior goalie, Mason Ponsler made the save on the penalty kick and preserved the tie for the Pirates.
