Ohio’s “pink tax” repeal is heading to the governor’s desk. The measure cleared the Ohio Senate on Wednesday in a 30-1 vote after earlier winning unanimous approval in the Ohio House.
Senate Bill 26 includes a provision that would repeal Ohio’s sales tax on tampons and other feminine hygiene products. It also provides a tax credit to teachers who purchase school supplies.
Democrat State Rep. Brigid Kelly, of Cincinnati, was also a sponsor. Kelly said if the bill is signed by the governor, Ohio would join 15 other states to exempt feminine hygiene products from sales tax, saving women nearly $4 million each year
