Phyllis Marie (Jackson) Bischoff passed away at the age of 88 on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Ripley Crossing. Phyllis was born on Monday, March 1, 1937, in Dillsboro; daughter of Leon and Edna (Warner) Jackson. Phyllis worked as a clerk at Dillsboro Hardware, Tom Hardware, and Valley Hardware. She also previously worked for Thatcher Glass. Phyllis married Robert “Buster” Bischoff on February 12, 1960, and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2023. Phyllis was a member of the Dillsboro Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and was Ladies Missionary Group President. She enjoyed crafting, flowers, playing cards, bingo, and going fishing. Most of all Phyllis dearly loved her family.
Phyllis will be missed by her sons Michael (Debra) Bischoff of Guilford and Rodney (Lauri) Bischoff of Dillsboro; grandchildren Dustin (Kaylee) Bischoff and Morgan (Robert) Feichtner; step-grandchildren Shawn Haase, Trena Walker, and Josh Kessler; great-grandchildren Karter Bischoff and Halle Bischoff; and step-great-grandchildren Braden Walker, Ben Walker, and Keegan Kessler.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Edna Jackson; husband Robert Bischoff; brother Clarence Jackson; and sisters Jean Deamron and Janet Walton.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Phyllis from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM, Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Todd Wolfe officiating. Burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Phyllis to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
