Paula Diane Shafer

Paula Diane Shafer, age 57 of New Point, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.  The daughter of Edward and Mary (nee: Dugle) Shafer was born on December 11, 1962 in Greensburg, Indiana.

The 1982 North Decatur High School graduate loved her job at the Ross Point Truck Stop in New Point, where she worked for over 30 years.  Paula was a 35 year member of the Greensburg Eagles Aerie #927 Ladies Auxiliary, the Greensburg American Legion Post #129 Ladies Auxiliary and a faithful member of the New Point Christian Church.

Paula loved going to the Eagles to spend time with her friends. Her family will tell you she never met a stranger or a person she wouldn’t help and never had a negative thought in her mind. She was a Disney fan especially anything to do with her favorite character, Goofy. Christmas at the Shafer house with all the family around was a joy for her. One year, she taught Sarah to make homemade dumplings. Sometimes even on a Saturday night, she liked going with Mike to watch the horse races at Indiana Grand.  Most of the time, Aunt Paula could be found going to all her nieces and nephews birthday parties and events. She truly loved them as her own children.

She will be dearly missed by her sisters, Rebecca (Dale) Nobbe of Hamburg, Barbara Mauer (Mike Sexton) of New Point; brother, Chuck (Marilyn) Shafer of New Point; nieces and nephews, Paul (Vickie) Nobbe, Greg (Sherry) Mauer, Matt (Melanie) Nobbe, Jenifer Shafer (Shawn Yeager), Luke (Anna) Nobbe, Lindsay (Kyle) Klene, Terry (Hope) Mauer, Katie Sexton and Erin Shafer; and great nieces and nephews, Connor, Hailey, Eli, Michael, Lane, AJ, Emma, Sarah, Austin, Brayden, Caroline, Jackson, Kasen, Callie, Evan, Brody and Raelyn.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm followed by 3:00pm funeral service all at New Point Christian Church.  Mark Vice officiating.  Burial will be in the Rossburg Cemetery in New Point.
