Paul Douglas Sheets, 70, Rising Sun

Paul Douglas Sheets, 70, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Paul was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 11, 1954, a son of the late Francis (Clem) Sheets Goodwin and Charles  Sheets. He was a graduate of Elder High School, Class of 1972. Paul married Sharon  (Becker) Sheets on December 6, 1972. Paul and Sharon were married over 52 until his passing. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion. Paul worked as a boiler operator for DTE Energy for several years. After his retirement from the power plant, Paul began driving a school bus for the St. Mary’s and St. Lawrence schools.  He was a faithful and very active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, IN. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2111 and served as Grand Knight. Paul enjoyed playing softball in his younger years. Paul and Sharon also loved to travel and take cruises.

Paul is  survived by his wife, Sharon Sheets, of Rising Sun, IN; by three daughters, Angela Grace (Donald), of Rising Sun, IN, Christina Hamilton (Kenneth), of Odessa, TX and Jennifer Anglin (Jason), of Rising Sun, IN; by his son, Paul Douglas  Sheets, Jr. (Sarah), of Rising Sun, IN; by his grandchildren: Jessica, Jonathan and Jacob Grace; Andrew and Kiera Anglin; Silas, Noah, Eli and Uriah Sheets and by his great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Sebastian, Hudson and Maddilyn. Paul is also survived by two sisters, Patty Evans, of Rising Sun, IN and Anne Kailholz, of Bright, IN; by two brothers, Chris Sheets, of KY and Tony Sheets, of Cincinnati, OH and by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.  Paul was preceded in death by his daughter Gail, parents Charles and Francis Sheets, step father Leslie Goodwin, and siblings Michael and Angela.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 21st, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, IN. Visitation will be held 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by Mass. Burial with military honors will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery immediately following. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
