Patricia Sue (Jackson) Gossett Helton, 80

Patricia Sue (Jackson) Gossett Helton, 80, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on  Wednesday, May 1st, 2024 at The Willows of Greensburg. Patricia was born in Dearborn County, IN on February 21, 1944, a daughter of the late Irene (Morehead) Jackson and Arthur Jackson. She grew up in the Aurora community and was a graduate of Aurora High School, Class of 1962. Patricia married Hershell D. Gossett on August 30, 1963. Three children were born into this union: Cathy, Hershell D. II, and John. Hershell unexpectedly passed on June 8, 1994. Patricia’s family expanded when she married Richard L. Helton on May 26, 2007. Patricia and Richard were married for nearly 17 years until her passing. Patricia began work as a cook and baker at the Aurora High School. She later went on to be head cook and cafeteria supervisor at South Dearborn High School for over 25 years. Patricia was a woman of faith and a devoted member of the Rising Sun First Baptist Church where she assisted with vacation bible school, was a Sunday school teacher, and helped out wherever she was needed. She was also a Girl Scout leader for several years. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. Patricia had a true passion for travel and was amazingly able to visit all 50 states plus 32 countries. Spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her heart with joy.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Richard Helton, of Rising Sun, IN; by her daughter, Cathy Cutter (Curtis), of Dillsboro, IN; by her 2 two sons, Hershell D. Gossett II, of Aurora, IN and John L.Gossett (Susan), of Jasper, IN; by her step daughter, Amy Fehling (Bill), of Moores Hill, IN; by her two step sons, David Helton (Dee Dee), of Rising Sun, IN and Brian Helton, of Phoenix, AZ; by her grandchildren: Cassie & Thomas Carper, Clay & Natalie Cutter, Zackry & Rachel Everett, Hannah & Ben Bertram, Hunter & Brenna Gossett, Paige Helton, Chase & Sally Fehling, Chloe & Jacob Snelling, Noah Fehling, Eli Helton & Shelby Helton and by great grandchildren; Braxton & Barrett Carper, Ada Cutter, Becker Bertram & Tucker Fehling. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her first husband Hershell Gossett, and by brothers, Kenny, Larry & Richard Jackson.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Public Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 4th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro, IN.
