Patricia Ann Wycislo, age 78 of Liberty

Patricia Ann Wycislo, of Liberty, was born on August 6, 1947, the beloved daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Gruendahl (née Kloda). She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and was a proud graduate of Ritenour Sr. High School. Patricia was an avid learner who pursued multiple degrees throughout her life. She attended the University of Missouri–St. Louis and the University of Missouri–Kansas City—where she studied and performed ballet. She also attended the University of Illinois–Chicago, where she was awarded the Theodore J. Tracy, S.J. Award for Outstanding Senior in Latin, and Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing. On May 5, 1984, Patricia was united in marriage to William E. Wycislo. Together they shared many years of love and companionship. Patricia devoted her life to helping others through her work as a nurse. She was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and was employed by the Illinois Army National Guard for over 26 years, where she attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During her time with the Illinois Army National Guard, Patricia served as Chief Nurse for several years. In her spare time, Patricia enjoyed knitting, playing classical piano, as well as reading. She especially loved nature and was an avid animal lover. Patricia was also a devoted and loyal pet owner who cared deeply for the animals in her life.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Patricia passed away peacefully at Reid Health at the age of 78.

Surviving is Patricia’s loving husband, Dr. William E. Wycislo, PhD, of Liberty, Indiana. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Gruendahl.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at The Oratory of Saints Philomena and Cecilia, 16194 St. Mary’s Road, Brookville, with Fr. Gerard Saguto, FSSP officiating. Patricia will be laid to rest at Saints Philomena and Cecilia Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Bernard Hurst Post #77.

Memorial contributions in honor of Patricia may be directed to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, donations will be accepted in person at the visitation or online at their website, or to Saints Philomena and Cecilia Cemetery fund.
