Pamela E. Hunter, 78, of Metamora, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, October 17, 2025.
She was born on October 14, 1947, in Laurel, to the late Melvin and Ollie Tussey Cummins.
A lifelong educator, she graduated as Valedictorian from Laurel High School with the Class of 1966. Her pursuit of knowledge continued at Kentucky Wesleyan and Pikeville Colleges in Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She then attended IUPUI and earned her Master’s Degree in Education. Pamela dedicated her professional life to shaping young minds as an Elementary School Teacher for the Franklin, Bartholomew, and Union County school systems, a position from which she retired after 26 years. Pamela cherished all of her students and truly loved her role as a teacher.
Pamela was a woman of deep faith and an active member of the Reach Community Church in Laurel. She possessed a hard-working spirit while taking time to raise her daughter, farm, and commune with nature. She loved to challenge herself with long-distance running, competing in and winning many marathons and races. Pamela lived a life devoted to her family and animals, her calling as an educator, and her community. However, her favorite role in life was that of “Granny” to her two beloved grandchildren, Oliver (8) and Avery (6), with whom she shared a most special bond. She knew she would someday meet her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and many loved ones.
Pamela is survived by her daughter, Amanda (Ryan) Noggle of Los Angeles, California; and her two grandchildren, Oliver Noggle and Avery Noggle. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Cummins of Florida; and two brothers, Samuel Cummins of Florida and Mendell Cummins (Juanita Wiser) of Metamora, Indiana, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Pamela was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ruth Worland, Melvina Faye Richards, and Wanda Thompson; and a brother, John Jacob Cummins.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the Celebration of Life ceremony at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Reach Community Church, 229 Washington Street, Laurel, Indiana. Pastor Duane Harrison will officiate. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
