(Aurora, IN) – Two people have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Dollar General store near Aurora.
It was on February 14 when a man armed with a knife robbed the store on Gatch Hill Road off U.S. 50.
Dearborn County Sheriff Shane McHenry says a review of a neighbor’s surveillance video led investigators to the vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery.
McHenry says the vehicle had been stolen from the nearby Hillcrest Motel on U.S. 50.
Investigators say video surveillance showed a man identified as 27-year-old Robert Harden III of Aurora had stolen the vehicle.
He had been an employee and a resident of the motel but had not been seen since a few days before the robbery.
Police pulled the vehicle over in Lexington, Kentucky on February 18 with Harden inside along with 40-year-old Samantha Brewer of Lawrenceburg.
Sheriff’s detectives travelled to Lexington and met with Brewer and Harden.
Authorities say the investigation determined that Brewer and Harden travelled to the area of the Dollar General on the 14th.
Brewer was allegedly driving at the time of the robbery but told detectives she thought Hardin was meeting someone there to sell drugs.
Both Harden and Brewer are charged with Armed Robbery (Aiding, Inducing, or Causing an Offense); Conspiracy
to Commit Armed Robbery (both Level 3 felonies), and Conspiracy to Commit Auto Theft (Level 4 felony)
Harden also faces a Burglary of a Dwelling (Level 4 felony) count.
McHenry says the pair remains jailed in Lexington.
