ORV crash in Ripley County claims one life

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN — A Madison man was killed in an off-road vehicle (ORV) crash in Ripley County over the weekend.

Indiana Conservation Officers say 36-year-old Tyler Asche was traveling downhill on a gravel roadway near the 9000 block of South County Road 75 West just before 9:30 Saturday night when he lost control of his side-by-side ORV.

Asche was partially ejected from the ORV and pinned underneath it as it came to rest on its side.

He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators say Asche was not wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger in the ORV, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Conservation officers were assisted at the scene by Indiana State Police, the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, the Friendship Fire Department, Ripley County EMS, and Ripley County Medic Service.
