Greensburg, IN—The Greensburg Decatur County Public Library will not be opening to the public today. Library staff are working to determine the needs and safety requirements of both our community and staff and preparing to open the library in phases. Currently, the Library does not have adequate supplies, such as masks, disinfecting materials, and gloves, to be open to the public. There are many logistics to work out regarding maintaining physical distancing and implementing sanitation measures including disinfecting and quarantining all materials that are returned to the library.
Please note the following that will happen as we roll out Library services in phases:
- Curbside and other services – The Library is in the planning stage of offering curbside or grab-and-go pickup, document services, or appointments for individuals needing assistance applying for unemployment and various eligibility programs. Curbside or grab-and-go service allows a card-holding patron to place a hold on materials for pickup during designated hours. Safe materials handling practices may limit the number of items or may delay the time required to process materials for pickup.
- Library hours may be limited. Time at or in the library may be limited by the activity (pickup, appointment, document services). Online resources will continue 24/7 and our Wi-Fi will continue to be on and accessible from the parking lot.
- There will be limited access to physical spaces – for the foreseeable future, the library will continue to restrict access to most of the library facilities, including meeting spaces, seating areas, and computer labs. The library will follow guidance about the number of people per square foot, continued social distancing and elevated sanitation practices. Staff and guest safety is a priority.
- Requests of guests/customers – The Library may designate specific restricted areas for parking, entry, walkways, and interactions with library staff. The Library may require guests to wash hands, wear masks, and to follow other protocols. We respectfully ask for your cooperation.
