Milan, IN – The Oldenburg Twisters travelled to Milan to take on the Indians in a possible sectional preview as the tournament inches closer by the day.
The first quarter was dominated by the Twisters, they took advantage of Milan’s slow start and jumped out to a 23-9 lead at the conclusion of the first. Milan then responded by cutting the lead to 8 at half behind a 23 point quarter in the second. Halftime score, 40-32 in favor of OA.
After halftime, both teams seemed to make some adjustments and both came out swinging, a back and forth third quarter found Oldenburg winning 16-15 and extending their lead heading into clutch time. The Indians weren’t done and behind a few three point makes and some steals the lead was down to 3 with a few minutes remaining which forced an Oldenburg timeout. However, that’s as close as it got and thanks to Henry Wanstrath’s 27 points 9 rebounds and Jacob Stenger’s 18 point outing on 4/8 from deep, the Twisters closed out the game with free throws. Final score, 73-61, Twisters.
Despite the loss the Indians also found a spark on offense from Junior Micah Norman who added 26 points and 7 rebounds on 4/7 from 3 and senior Jackson Voss’ 17 point, 8 assist outing.
The Twisters will continue their late season action when they travel to Union County on Friday, seeking to add to their win streak. The Indians are hosting the North Decatur Chargers on Tuesday, looking to get back on track in the win column.
