OLDENBURG – Oldenburg Academy recently acknowledged new upgrades and refurbishments in the school’s gymnasium that have taken place over the past year.
The school now has a refinished and redesigned gym floor, underwritten by Oasis, the Alumni Assocation and many students, alums, parents, friends and faculty.
The project was launched at an annual dinner auction when many people sponsored letters, logos, and various athletic markings on the floor. Oldenburg Coach Ace Moorman later led a student effort to sponsor a “piece of the floor” competition.
Other accomplishments recognized at the August 28 celebration include:
- motion-sensor” lights, new sound system and new backboard were purchased with funds raised from OASIS athletic booster organization
- Scorers’ table was made possible by an exclusive Main Source Bank sponsorship
- Scoreboard which has numerous sponsors
- Senior banners are courtesy of Agresta, Storms, O’Leary, CPA’s
President Diane Laake stated: “Altogether, over $35,000 worth of improvements that benefit every OA student in PE class, when they play on a team or take part in our new conditioning program held on Tuesday mornings, when we gather for assemblies and events such as the club carnival yesterday or back to school registration and opening dance a few weeks ago; in addition, we host our annual alumni homecoming luncheon here in October, our dinner auction in February, a speech meet for area elementary students in the fall, placement test and scholarship programs, senior luncheon, etc. etc. This is a true multi-purpose facility! And it looks marvelous!”
