Oldenburg Academy Swimmers’ Set a New School Record

Congratulations to both the Oldenburg Academy boys’ 200 Medley Relay Team and 400-yard freestyle Relay Team on not only placing first but setting a new school record-breaking time of 1:52.17 in the 200 Medley and 3:48.04 in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.

During the Madison Invite on 1/6/24, Nash King (backstroke), Santiago Schutte (breaststroke), Sully Hill (butterfly), and Noah Schenk (freestyle) surpassed the previous school record of 1:53.51 set back on November 22, 2010, by B.Perkins, Z. Gorman, Q.Shenk and J.Sanders. Going 25.63, 29.56, 30.44 and 26.54 respectively.

“All the boys contributed to a drop in time from their previous swim at Richmond earlier this year where they finished in 1:56.71(26.43, 30.24, 31.98 and 28.06 respectively).” said OA swim coach Jerry Fry.

Just a week later at the South Dearborn Invite, the boys 400 yard freestyle relay team clocked in at  3:48.04 besting the old record of  3:56.68 from 2/18/10. Relay swimmers Noah Schenk (1st leg), Santiago Schutte (2nd leg), Albert Hudepohl (3rd leg) and Nash King (4th leg) all had fast split times to achieve the record.

“All their hard work is paying off!!! We’re very proud of every swimmer’s determination to individually improve and work together to win as a team!”

The OA swim team continues to grow as one of the competitive swim programs in Southeastern Indiana.
