Oldenburg Academy Swim Team Results

Connersville/Oldenburg/South Dearborn three way swim meet Saturday January 18 at
Connersville High School
For the first time in OA’s school swim history, they had a swimmer compete in the diving portion
of the swim meet. Santiago Schutte set not only a school record, but made history for the OA
swim team by competing in the diving. With no prior diving experience and only 30 minutes of
practice before the competition, he scored 119.25 points in the 1mtr diving. “I have always
wanted to try diving, it was a goal I had set back my freshman year but with no place to practice
and not having a diving coach, I decided not to think about it anymore and concentrate on my
swimming. But then I started thinking, it’s my senior year, I need to at least try.” He not only
performed a historic event, but was also part of the new school record set in the 400M freestyle
relay. Teammates include Albert Hudepohl, Grant Rosenberger and Nash King. They broke the
school record by 7 seconds.
Other highlights:
Freshman Alejandra Schutte showing her talents once again by winning both the 200 IM and
100 breaststroke
Nash King doing what he does best by winning both his events, 200 freestyle and 100
backstroke.
Caroline Niese placing 1st in the 100 butterfly.
The girls 200 medley relay team placed 1st, Alejandra Schutte, Avery Austin, Caroline Niese
and Ella Maxwell.
The boys 200 medley relay team placed 1st.
