Obituary for Earl E. Bowles

Earl E. Bowles, 69, North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at his home. Born, August 28, 1952 in Columbus, Indiana, he was the son of Roy and Helen (Ballard) Bowles.

Earl graduated from the top of his class at Columbus North High School in 1970.

He then joined the Army in 1970 and then transitioned to the National Guard until 1981. Earl had worked at Cummins, Sintering Technologies Inc., MLKS Bearings, and also drove a semi-truck. He was married to Glenda Smith on February 14, 1981.

Earl enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, war movies, and watching the military/history channel. Earl was also well known for his dry humor and jokes.

He is survived by one son, Chris (Brandi) Bowles, Greensburg; one daughter, Amanda (James) Jobe, Connersville; sisters: Mary Helen Bowles, Debra Louise (Steven) Hamner, and Elizabeth Rose Gearhart; 5 grandchildren: Taylor Klene, Caleb Bowles, Kaysar Bowles, Maddie Bowles, and Morgan Jobe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Barbara Jean Cook, Diana May Bowles; and brother, David Lynn Bowles.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 12 noon to 2 pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2 pm, also at the funeral home. Burial and military honors will take place at Old Union Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN.
