OA Soccer Finishes Second at Twister Cup

Oldenburg Academy hosted their annual Twister Cup at Gillespie Field on Saturday, August 31.

The first game between OA and Seton Catholic saw the Twisters dominate possession for a 7-0 victory. Adam Weber started the scoring at the 34:20 mark in the first half. Jacob Hilbert picked up his second hat trick of the season by scoring the next 4 goals at 12:20, 10:10, 7:31, and 5:40. The second half saw Rylan Hill score his first varsity goal at the 19 minute mark. Mason Thompson followed with his first varsity goal with 5 seconds to play. The Twisters defense held the Cardinals to only two shots. Isaiah Wagoner and Luke Aiken shared goalkeeping duties.

Indianapolis Arsenal Tech defeated Trinity Lutheran in a game two shootout setting up the championship game between the Twisters and Titans.

The final was well matched as both teams contested every ball. The class 3A Titans broke open the scoring in the 23rd minute and went up 2-0 at the half off a penalty kick. The second half saw the Titans score three more times for a 5-0 victory. The Twisters only managed 5 shots on goal compared to the Titans 16.

The Twisters record is now 3-2-1 heading into a busy week. The JV hosts East Central on Wednesday and the varsity hosts Greensburg on Wednesday and Hauser on Saturday at the Graveyard.
