OA baseball falls to Rising Sun 4-3 in extra innings

Thursday evening, Oldenburg Academy varsity baseball fell to Rising Sun 4-3 in a game that was decided on the final play. In the bottom of the eighth, the game was tied at three when Rising Sun’s Aiden White singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Rising Sun got things started in the first inning when Rising Sun scored one run on a stolen base.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Twisters tied things up at three. Alex Sizemore singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

White was the winning pitcher for Rising Sun. The fireballer lasted six innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking one. Brady threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Zach Hoff took the loss for the Twisters. The righty lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out one and walking one.

Jacob Hoff started the game for the Twisters. Jacob went five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out ten.

Cy Muckerhide led Oldenburg Academy with two hits in three at-bats.

Rising Sun tallied eight hits in the game. Brady Works and Peyton Merica. Both managed multiple hits for the Shiners. Brady went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Rising Sun in hits. Rising Sun stole nine bases during the game, as two players stole more than one. Merica led the way with five.

The Twisters will travel to Jac-Cen-Del on Saturday, with first pitch at 11 o’clock.
