NEW MARION, Ind. — Don’t be alarmed if you feel or hear a few explosions over the next week.
The Indiana National Guard will be detonating ordnance beginning this Thursday and Friday at Jefferson Range.
The blasts will also occur next week from Wednesday, July 30 through Friday, August 1.
The demolitions take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. with multiple blasts throughout the day.
The blasts may be felt as far away as Moores Hill, Holton and Sunman.
Jefferson Range Scheduler Joahnna Siebenthal said, “We are required to clean up any ordnance that may be potentially hazardous out here. We are disposing of that.”
“So, if it appears as if the ordnance has some kind of active charge left in it we have an EOD team that will dispose of that. They just blow it up right in place so it is no longer hazardous.”
