Columbus, IN — A Thursday morning traffic stop by Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers led to the arrest of a North Vernon woman on several drug-related charges, including methamphetamine dealing, after a large amount of the drug was recovered by law enforcement.
Shortly before 1 am, CPD officers stopped a vehicle for a minor violation on North National Road. Officers noted that the driver of the vehicle, Cathy E. Ford, 52, of North Vernon was visibly nervous. A CPD canine officer responded to the scene and the handler advised that the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics inside Ford’s truck. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered over 72 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia including two syringes as well as several small plastic bags with white residue inside.
Ford was placed under arrest and charged on allegations of Dealing in Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Legend Drug Injection Device, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
