North Decatur volleyball made the trip to Brookville and returned to Decatur County with a 3-0 over Franklin County. Final scores were 25-19, 25-14 and 25-20. The Lady Chargers are now 6-2.
“Effective serve receive led to a dominating offensive attack,” said ND coach Ashley Gauck. “Sami Luttel connected well with her hitters.”
Leading the Charger offense was Caroline Stapp with 16 kills. Madelyn Bohman was close behind with 10 kills, Madi Allen added six and Aubrey Kennelly had three. Caroline Kennelly recorded three aces, Lainey Crites served two and Hannah Gorrel had one.
“We started a new lineup against North Decatur and we are still adjusting to each other,” said Franklin County coach Jill Mergenthal. “As a coach, this is never easy trying to figure out who talks better or more or not at all with the players around them. We played very well and are getting better with every set we play. I would like to see us be more aggressive with net play because when these girls can hit that ball. The power we have with this team is awesome!”

The Wildcats beat the Chargers in JV action 25-22 and 25-21.
“We were down both sets, but the girls dug deep and fought back for the win,” said Wildcat assistant coach Tana Stang. “The girls had great teamwork and communication. Lauren Stacy served 14 straight points in the second set to help us gain the lead and earn the win.”

“Despite being down players, our JV fought hard but lost two straight sets,” noted Gauck. “Clare Kinker set 30/31 with five assists. Tyce Robbins added nine digs and two aces while Anna Mauer contributed seven. Kelsey Haley had five digs and four kills. Rounding out the defense with five digs each were Skyla Wade and Zoey Hersley.”
