North Decatur Football gave the second-ranked team in Class 1A a run for its money Friday, but ND fell just short, 19-18, at home to Monroe Central.
According to this report from Christopher Stephen, the teams matched touchdowns in the first quarter which included a Josh Evans 11-yard touchdown pass receptions from Carson Parmer. But then the Bears took a 13-6 lead into halftime. Adjustments at half from both teams resulted in a scoreless chess match of a third quarter.
In the fourth, the Chargers scored first on an 18-yard pass from Parmer to Evan Howell but missed on the two-point try. It was 13-12 Bears. Joel Kennedy answered for MC with a 42-yard TD run. The Bears were stopped on their two-point conversion but led 19-12.
The Chargers scored late with another TD toss from Carson Parmer to Kaden Muckerheide. This one went for 30 yards. Unfortunately, a high snap on the extra point led to the final one-point deficit, 19-18.
The Bears Joel Kennedy had 25 carries for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Parmer was 21 of 48 passing for 248 yards and three TDs for the Chargers.
