North Decatur Elementary students take part in NASA educational downlink event

DECATUR COUNTY, IN — Students at North Decatur Elementary School participated in a once-in-a-lifetime NASA in-flight Educational Downlink Event on Monday.

Students asked prerecorded questions to the Expedition 66 astronauts on the International Space Station.

Astronauts listened to the videos in space and then responded live on NASA TV during the virtual event.

In anticipation of the event, the North Decatur Elementary community created a life-size mockup of the International Space Station in the school gym.

Inside the ISS mockup, students made presentations about living and working in space.
