(Franklin County, IN) – No one was injured when a Franklin County Community School Corporation bus went off State Road 229 at Whistle Creek Road Tuesday morning.
The preliminary investigation indicates the bus overshot a curve and safely came to rest in a cornfield.
None of the students on board nor the driver were injured. The students were transferred to another bus to continue their trip to school.
State Road 229 at Whistle Creek Road was closed for about 30 minutes during the emergency response and investigation.
“All families of students on the bus have been contacted through our notification system. We appreciate everyone’s patience
and understanding, and we are grateful for the quick response of our driver, first responders, and staff,” reads a statement from the school corporation.
The incident is being reviewed by the school corporation’s transportation leadership team to ensure proper safety procedures were followed.
