(New Point, IN) – The New Point Volunteer Fire Department’s peach sale fundraiser is a no-go again this year.
The orchard in Georgia where the peaches are grown went through a late winter-early spring severe freeze which resulted in 92% of this year’s crop dying.
It’s the second consecutive year the fire department has had to pull the plug on the popular fundraiser: you’ll recall a late frost and hail storm severely damaged last year’s crop.
However, another popular fundraiser, the department’s annual chicken dinner, is still on for the last Friday in July.
