INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A new law will soon change the way your kids or grandkids ride an ATV.
The measure, signed by Governor Holcomb last week, will require children under the age of 18 to wear a helmet while on an ATV.
The helmet must meet federal safety standards, thus eliminating more “creative” helmet options like bike helmets, batter’s helmets, and pasta strainers.
Owners who allow children to ride or drive off-road vehicles on public OR private land could be subject to a Class C misdemeanor and a fine of up to $500.
The law goes into effect July 1
