Indianapolis, In. — State and federal law enforcement agencies are looking into a wave of bomb threats sent to organizations across the country, including at least 10 in central Indiana. The email threats triggered a wave of evacuations, searches, closures and most of all, fear.
In Indiana Developmental Services, Inc in Columbus, Carmel-Clay Schools, WNDU-TV in South Bend, the Muncie YMCA and the Whiting High School in northern Indiana.
Investigators say not all the threats were deemed credible. Some of the notes included bitcoin payment demands.
The FBI released the following state online yesterday:
“We are aware of the recent bomb threats made in cities around the country, and we remain in touch with our law enforcement partners to provide assistance. As always, we encourage the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities which could represent a threat to public safety.”
