(Greensburg, IN) – The Greensburg Police Department and the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office teamed up to locate a vehicle linked to a crime committed in Ohio.
Local agencies were notified by detectives from Ohio that the vehicle was in Greensburg Wednesday at 9:57 a.m.
Greensburg Police say Lt. Wayne Davis spotted the vehicle parked in a local apartment complex at approximately 11:09 a.m.
GPD officers and Sheriff’s deputies converged on the area of Lincoln and 10th streets and pulled the vehicle over in the Speedway parking lot.
The car’s occupants were transported to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office for questioning by the Ohio detectives.
Possible evidence at the scene was secured by Greensburg officers.
Neither local agency made arrests in connection with the traffic stop. Authorities say this type of cooperation is indicative of the officers of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and the Greensburg Police Department, as well as law enforcement agencies across the nation.
Rumors are circulating of an active shooter or a shooting that occurred at Speedway on Lincoln Street, but investigators confirmed that these are just rumors and are dangerous when made up and spread.
Greensburg Schools went on a brief “Secure” as a precaution when rumors spread.
“Your local police agencies are most interested in protecting the entire public and encourage you to look for information from trusted news outlets or directly from the agency,” said Greensburg Police Chief Mike McNealy and Decatur County Sheriff Bill Meyerrose in a joint statement.
