Multiple accidents reported from winter storm

Accident on SR 129 Monday.

Southeastern, IN — Several accidents took place from the winter storm Monday night and Tuesday. Shortly before noon on Monday, the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for the report of a vehicle accident on South State Route 129. According to officials, only minor injuries occurred in the accident. Units assisting on scene were Ripley County EMS and Ripley County Sherriff Department.

On Tuesday, multiple Crashes began being reported as day-break arrived on I-74. The roads were extremely slick due to low temperatures and ice from the storm. Around 9 am two accidents were reported on I-74.
The first was a crash that occurred in the westbound lane near the 153-mile marker on I-74 in Ripley County. The second was a crash on I-74 Eastbound near the 142-mile marker in Decatur County. No injuries were reported in these two accidents.

Sgt. Steven Wheeles with the Indiana State Police Versailles District reports that between Monday and Tuesday 18 slide-offs, 15 property damage accidents, and 1 personal injury accident took place due in the Versailles District.
