Batesville, IN – Musikgarten, the internationally recognized leader in early childhood music education, is entering an exciting new chapter. Shannon Mullins, an experienced music educator and founder of Miss Shannon’s Music Studio in Batesville, Indiana, will officially become the new owner of Music Matters, Inc., trademark owner of Musikgarten on October 10, 2025.
With over 20 years of experience as a music teacher and small business owner, Shannon brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and leadership to her new role. She has been a licensed Musikgarten educator for more than 15 years, inspiring students from babies to budding
musicians and leading countless families through the power of music.

“Taking on the responsibility of leading Musikgarten is both humbling and thrilling,” said Shannon. “Lorna’s visionary work built a foundation that has touched thousands of families across the globe. I am truly honored to carry that legacy forward.”

As the company’s headquarters transition to Batesville, Indiana, the city stands to become a growing center for early childhood music education, bringing new visibility, cultural
value, and potential economic benefits to the region.
Shannon plans to expand Musikgarten’s reach both nationally and internationally by increasing support and training for new teachers. One of her short-term goals includes hosting an annual Musikgarten convention in cities across the United States. Offering opportunities for professional development, community building, and innovation among early childhood educators.
Steady Transition with Big Dreams Ahead
While no major changes are planned immediately, Shannon shared that she will make thoughtful updates over time to enhance and support the existing community of educators and families. All materials and product sales will continue uninterrupted during and after the transition.
Beyond her professional credentials, Shannon is also a passionate advocate for accessibility in music. In 2018, she founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in memory of her late father-in-law, offering annual scholarships for private music lessons to ensure all children,
regardless of financial means, have the chance to experience the joy of music.
“I believe in Musikgarten’s mission with my whole heart,” Shannon said. “It has shaped who I am as an educator and as a person. I’m excited to begin this new journey and give my all to the continued growth of this incredible community.”
