Ms. Joan Carol (Wiltz) Peelman, age 81, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 21, 1942 in Fresno, California. She was the daughter of the late John George and Mary Lorine (Blanton) Wiltz. Growing up, Joan was taught how to play the accordion. She was a 1960 graduate of Washington Union High School in Easton, California. Joan was united in marriage on September 26, 1963 in Kerman, California to Herbert “Leon” Peelman. Joan and the family resided in the Vevay community since 1969. She was employed in housekeeping for the Ogle Haus and later for Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. Joan owned and operated with her daughter, Cheryl, J&C Cleaning where they were employed for Lifetime Resources cleaning for the elderly in the Switzerland County community for several years. Joan was also the custodian for the Switzerland County Health Department. She was a member of the Vevay Church of Christ in Vevay, Indiana. Joan enjoyed collecting seashells, making rugs and watching TV. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending quality time with them and going to antique malls. Joan had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed studying the dictionary where she had a wide vocabulary. Joan passed away at 10:58 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Joan will be missed by her son, Darrell Leon Peelman and his wife, Beverly of East Enterprise, IN; her daughter, Cheryl Scudder and her husband, David of Vevay, IN; her loving grandchildren, Seth McFadden of Madison, IN, Alicia Carr and her husband, Josh of East Enterprise, IN and Destine Smith and her husband, Sam of Navarre, FL; her great-grandchildren, Jaylin, Justus and Larissa and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John George Wiltz; her mother, Mary Lorine (Blanton) Wiltz; her daughter, Karen Laverne (Peelman) Harsin, died August 30, 1990; her brother, George Wiltz and her sisters, Betty Wiltz and Nancy Tate.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2024, by Bro. Roy Duckworth in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
