Mrs. Rosa Marie (Miller) Christner, age 80, of Brushy Fork Road, Canaan, Indiana, entered this life on September 9, 1944 in Rural, Allen County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Daniel S. and Lavina J. (Lengacher) Miller, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Allen County, Indiana where she attended school. Rosa was united in marriage on August 22, 1965 in Berne, Indiana to Levi C. Christner. This union of nearly 56 years was blessed with 11 children. Rosa was of the old order Amish faith and resided in the Switzerland County community since 1987. Rosa passed away with her loving family by her side at 4:20 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2025, at her residence.
Rosa is survived by her daughters, her sons and their spouses, Marie Girod and her husband, Levi of Pleasant, IN, Paul Christner and his wife, Lizzie of Owingsville, KY, Lavina Schwartz and her husband, Reuben of Canaan, IN, Martin Christner and his wife, Mary of Canaan, IN, Amy Schwartz and her husband, David of Pleasant, IN, Mervin Christner of Versailles, IN, Jerry Christner and his wife, Emily of Wichita, KS, Ines Schwartz and her husband, Elton of Butlerville, IN, Laura Longmyer and her husband, Anthony of Pueblo West, CO, and Reuben Christner of Canaan, IN; her 60-grandchildren; her 18-great-grandchildren; her brothers, James Miller of Allen County, IN, and Daniel Miller and his wife, Emma of Quincy, MI; her sister, Fannie Christner and her husband, Amos of Delhi, IA; and her several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel S. Miller, died February 1, 1981; her mother, Lavina J. (Lengacher) Miller, died March 21, 1993; her husband, Levi C. Christner, died March 10, 2021; her son, James R. Christner, died November 2, 1993; her granddaughters, Lori D. Schwartz, died November 19, 2007, Anna L. Christner, died May 16, 2020, and Rosalynn R. Christner, died September 20, 2022; her sisters, Mariann Schwartz, Margaret Schwartz, and Leah Wickey; and her brothers, Ora, Samuel, and Jerome Miller.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025, and all day on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Christner Residence, 359 Brushy Fork Road, Canaan, Indiana 47224.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, 2025, by Bishop Reuben Wickey, at the Christner Residence, 359 Brushy Fork Road, Canaan, Indiana 47224.
Interment will follow in the Old Order Amish Cemetery, on Shaw Hallow Road, Canaan, Indiana.
