Mrs. Mary E. (Wiley) Carr, age 93, of Martinsville, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, passed away at 7:47 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on September 5, 1931 in Vevay, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Hobart and Lyda Ogle (Banes) Wiley. Mary was raised in Vevay, Indiana and attended the Vevay High School. Mary was united in marriage to Allen Benton Carr on December 31, 1947 in Bright, Indiana. This happy union of nearly 52 years was blessed with a daughter, Cherry Lynn. In her early years, she cherished the great outdoors and enjoyed hiking. Mary was a wonderful homemaker who found joy in many activities, including bowling, reading, and working on genealogy. A talented musician, she delighted in playing guitar and singing. Mary resided in the Martinsville, Indiana community since 1964.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Cherry Lynn Laureano and her husband, Joseph, of North Canton, OH; her grandchildren, Julie Anne Jester and her husband, Carl, of Hainesville, IL, and Joseph Laureano III and his wife, Dana, of Grand Rapids, MI; her great-grandchildren, Jude and Oliver Laureano, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Hobart Wiley, died March 3, 1983; her mother, Lyda Ogle (Banes) Wiley, died December 21, 2001; her husband, Allen Benton Carr, died July 23, 1999; her brothers, Adrian D. “Bud” Wiley, died March 21, 1998 and Hobart E. “Jack” Wiley, died December 20, 2009 and her sister-in-law, Grace Wiley, died September 13, 1995.
Graveside Services will be conducted in the Spring in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
