Mrs. Martha Elizabeth “Libby” Smith, age 77, of Rising Sun, Indiana, entered this life on October 28, 1946 in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of Harold R. and Pruda (Remer) Smith. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1966 graduate of the Patriot High School. Libby was united in marriage on March 7, 1966 to Charles Smith in Patriot, Indiana. This happy union of over 58 years was blessed with a son, Troy and a daughter, Susan. Libby was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, reading, playing cards and gardening. Libby passed away at 6:48 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky.
Libby will be missed by her husband, Charles Smith of Rising Sun, IN; her son, Troy J. Smith and his wife, Becky of Florence, IN; her daughter, Susan L. Smith Crouse and her companion, Andy Briede of Taylor Mill, KY; her grandchildren, Billy Crouse, Joey Crouse, Angela Staggs and Michael Ellis; her great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Bea; her sister, Tina Sandlin and her husband: Jim of Pleasant, IN and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold R. “Pete” Smith; her mother, Pruda Mae (Remer) Smith; her brothers, Danny L. Smith and Harold A. “Bubby” Smith and her sisters, Linda Faye “Winnie” (Smith) Ellis and Corene Mae “Sissy” Smith.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana.
