Mrs. Janet Lee (Finkbiner) Cleaver, age 87, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 21, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, Chester Leroy “Chet” and Kathleen H. “Katie” (Benefiel) Finkbiner. She was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a 1952 graduate of the Tech High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. On June 12, 1952, Janet was united in marriage to Joseph Michael “Joe” Cleaver in Indianapolis, Indiana. This happy union of over 69 years was blessed with six children. Janet was a former CNA for 17 years at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. Janet loved reading and was a James Patterson fan and also loved bowling, painting, crafting and decorating. She was a member of the Switzerland County Homemaker’s Club and was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. Janet was of the Catholic faith and was a former member of the Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Janet passed away with her loving family by her side on Monday, April 18, 2022, at her residence.
Janet will be missed by her children, Penny Lynne Kugelman of Indianapolis, IN, Patrick C. Cleaver and his wife, Doris of Indianapolis, IN, Matthew C. Cleaver and his wife, Bev of Indianapolis, IN, Cathleen M. “Cady” Brock of Petersburg, IN and Anthony D. “Tony” Cleaver and his wife, Tonya of Mooresville, IN and her 7-grandchildren, 11-great-grandchildren and 1-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Leroy “Chet” Finkbiner, died July 3, 1993 and Kathleen H. “Katie” (Benefiel) Finkbiner, died December 8, 2003; her husband Joseph Michael “Joe” Cleaver, died November 26, 2021; her son, Joseph Michael “Joey” Cleaver, Jr., died November 24, 2014; her granddaughter, Laura Lee (Kugelman) Alcala, died June 29, 2018; her brother, Ronald Finkbiner, died April 11, 2009 and her son-in-law, James B. Kugelman, died November 5, 2016.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2022, in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
