Mrs. Glenna S. (Gayle) Riley, age 82, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 23, 1943 in Madison, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Stanley N. and Lula “Dude” (Lanham) Gayle. She was raised in Jefferson County, Indiana and was a 1961 graduate of the Vevay High School. Glenna was united in marriage on December 1, 1961 at the Macedonia Baptist Church to Phillip D. Riley. This happy union of nearly 64 years was blessed with a son, Chris and a daughter, Dana. Glenna owned and operated Swiss Auto Parts in Vevay, Indiana, until selling the business in 1996, after 28 years of service. She was employed for Richardson Industry for 11 years and later was a cook for the Switzerland County Middle School for 12 years, retiring in 2020. Glenna was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Madison, Indiana. Glenna enjoyed reading and bowling. Glenna passed away at 4:55 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion in Louisville, Kentucky.
Glenna will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Phillip D. Riley of Vevay, IN; her son, Chris Riley and his wife, Peggy of Vevay, IN; her daughter, Dana Lansing and her husband, Danny of Greendale, IN; her grandchildren, Josh White (Mattie), Nic Riley (Ashton), Brandon Riley (Stephanie), Jordyn Stow (Corey), Riley Lansing (Kelly), and Cayla Lansing (Michael); her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Deacon, Ruby, Sutton, Isla, Mary and Maja; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Kenny Riley and Margaret Ann Riley of Vevay, IN, Betty Mathews of Madison, IN, JoAnn Canfield of Madison, IN, and Janette Ferguson Newell and Chuck Newell of Covington, IN; and her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley N. Gayle, died September 24, 1988; her mother, Lula “Dude” (Lanham) Gayle, died April 2, 2007; her brother, Stanley N. “Sonny” Gayle, Jr., died February 13, 2006; her brother, William Robert Gayle, died November 25, 1987; her brothers-in-law, Louis Franklin Ferguson, Jr., died December 24, 2001 and Nelson Wayne Mathews, died November 10, 2022; her infant-niece, Jill Aileen Mathews, died September 30, 1971; and her nephew, Michael Stanley Gayle, died February 2, 1994.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2025, by Rev. Mike Barnes, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
