Mr. Robert Leon “Bob” Tevis, age 97, of Moorefield, Indiana, entered this life on February 20, 1929 in Moorefield, Indiana. He was raised in Switzerland County where he attended Vevay High School. Bob was inducted into the United States Army on January 26, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged on October 26, 1953 with the rank of Private First Class. Bob was united in marriage to Janet Boss in 1956 in Madison, Indiana. This union was blessed with five sons. Bob was later united in marriage on December 18, 1977 to Carol Ann Hennon in Bedford, Kentucky. Bob was employed as an assembler and welder for Rexnord in Madison, Indiana, retiring in 1985, after 24 years of service. Bob farmed all of his life and resided in the Moorefield, Indiana community. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Long Run Baptist Church near Moorefield, Indiana. He was an avid collector of amateur radios and found great joy in gardening, woodworking, tinkering, farming, and fishing. Bob passed away at 7:25 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Norton King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Bob is survived by his sons, Steven Tevis and his wife, Julie of Manheim, PA, Mark Tevis and his wife, Della of Birdsboro, PA, Michael Tevis of Reading, PA, and Rob Tevis of PA; his step-daughter, Julie Montfort and her husband, Roy of Frankfort, KY; his step-sons, Jeff Welch of Chicago, IL, and Buddy Tyrell of Madison, IN; his grandchildren, John, Shannon, Caitlen, Colin, Rachael, Dorothy, Danielle, Michael, and Leanne; his 10-great-grandchildren; his step-grandchildren and his step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kyle Tevis, died September 3, 1963; his mother, Doris (Cooper) Tevis, died December 29, 1929; his wife, Carol Ann (Hennon) Tevis, died May 26, 2014; his infant son, Barry Douglas Tevis, died August 9, 1957; his grandson, Michael Brandon Tevis, died January 21, 2020; his brother, George Tevis, died October 4, 1988; and his daughter-in-law, Antoinette “Rene” Tevis, died October 27, 2024.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
