Mr. Richard Gale “Dicky” Jones, age 79, of Vevay, Indiana, passed away at 8:34 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Norton King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Dicky was born on April 1, 1945 in Nabb, Indiana. He was the son of the late Harold and Mildred (Welch) Jones. The family operated the family farm since 1884 and it was homesteaded in 1996 in Nabb, Indiana, where he farmed with his brother and his father. He was a 1963 graduate of New Washington High School. Dicky was the king of the concrete ducks during the 1980’s. Dicky and Kay shared 53 loving years together until his passing. He was employed as a mechanic for Randall Textron in Vevay, Indiana, retiring after 29 years of service on December 11, 2005. He was a member of the Nabb Christian Church in Nabb, Indiana. Dicky and Kay operated a mowing business for several years in Switzerland County. Outside of work, Dicky enjoyed keeping a meticulous lawn and home. Fast cars held a special place in his heart, especially his corvette. In his free time, Dicky enjoyed pulling tractors with his Swiss Hopper and Orange Blossom Special.
Dicky will be fondly remembered by his companion, Kay O’Neal of Vevay, IN; his bonus daughter, Celisa “Ce Ce” (O’Neal) Griffin and her companion, Keith Louden of Columbus, IN; his bonus son, Barry O’Neal and his wife, Georgette of Vevay, IN; his son-in-law, Eric Davis of Madison, IN; his bonus grandchildren, Zach O’Neal, Shelby O’Neal, Cayla Manvilla and her husband, Kyle and Courtney Sells and her husband, Andrew; his bonus great-grandchildren, Addison, Ryleigh, Kayden, Brantley and Meadow; his sister, Margaret Cummings of Kansas City, MO; his special nephew, Mark Jones and his wife, Barbara of Louisville, KY and his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold B. Jones, died July 7, 1995; his mother, Mildred (Welch) Jones, died July 21, 2008; his daughter, Kelley Dianne (Jones) Davis, died January 5, 2014 and his brothers, Ronald, Bobby, Randy and Roger Jones.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, with Pastor Pat Lanman officiating, in the Brooksburg Cemetery, Brooksburg, Indiana.
