Mr. Norris Wayne Works

Mr. Norris Wayne Works, age 93, of Allensville, Indiana, entered this life on October 22, 1932 in Allensville, Indiana. Norris was the son of the late Cecil Paul and Dorothy (Blodgett) Works. He was raised on the family farm in Allensville, Indiana, where he spent his entire life and continued to reside – a place that remained the heart of his family and the work he so dearly loved. He graduated from Vevay High School, Class of 1951. Norris was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean Wadsworth on June 9, 1955 at the Rising Sun Baptist Church in Rising Sun, Indiana. This loving union of nearly 70 years was blessed with eight children and was rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to family. Norris owned and operated Works Sales and Services in Allensville, Indiana, for 67 years and successfully ran a farm for 70 years. In recognition of his lifelong commitment to agriculture, Norris was honored as the Silver Star Farmer of the Year in 2013 by the Switzerland County Soil and Water Conservation District. Norris and Carolyn built a wonderful life together on the family farm, where their children were raised learning the values of responsibility, perseverance, and love for the land. Their steadfast commitment to one another and to agriculture fostered a close-knit family and a deep respect for the land. Norris attended the Cross Plains Church of Christ in Cross Plains, Indiana. Norris found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including watching Westerns and sporting events on television, and especially appreciated his wife’s delicious home-cooked meals. Norris passed away surrounded by his family at 2:29 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2026, at his residence in Allensville, Indiana.

Norris will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 70 years, Carolyn Jean (Wadsworth) Works of Allensville, IN; his sons and daughters, Barry Works and his wife, Karen of Aberdeen, IN, Danny Works and his wife, Linda of Center Square, IN, Chrissie Decker and her husband, Jim of Canaan, IN, Robin Works and his wife, Sheri of Fairview, IN, Lisa Works of Allensville, IN, Alvin Lynn Works and his wife, Sandy of Allensville, IN, Cindy Anderson and her husband, Tully of Delphi, OH, and Dawn Powell and her husband, Larry of Allensville, IN; his 15-grandchildren; his several great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Bailey of Cincinnati, OH; and his nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Paul Works; his mother, Dorothy (Blodgett) Works; and his sister, Barbara Farrar.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
