Mr. Morris Jay Gullion, age 82, of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of Southeastern, Indiana, entered this life on September 14, 1941 in Michigan City, Indiana. He was the son of the late, Russell Gilbert and Marie Sally (McKenzie) Gullion. He was raised in Rising Sun, Indiana and Madison, Indiana, where he was a 1961 graduate of Madison High School. Morris attended Sullivan College in Louisville, Kentucky. Morris was inducted into the United States Army on December 2, 1963 in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the Sharpshooter Rifle M-14 badge, Expert Pistol badge and Good Conduct Medal. He rose to the rank of Private First Class on August 4, 1964. He was transferred into the United States Army Reserves on December 1, 1965 at Fort Benning, Georgia. Morris was honorable discharged on December 1, 1969. Morris was united in marriage to Wanda Clifford on September 5, 1965 in LaGrange, Kentucky and to this union arrived two daughters, Dee Ann and Toni Marie. He later moved to South Bend, Indiana where he met his longtime companion, Bonnie Faith (Barron) Toth and gained three more daughters, Karen, Kim and Krista. Morris owned and operated Gullion Associates as a contractor for 30 years as well as owned an antique store in South Bend, Indiana. Morris enjoyed antiquing and hiking. He also loved genealogy, reminiscing and going to family reunions and gatherings. Morris passed away at 9:30 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2024, at his residence in South Bend, Indiana.
Morris will be missed by his daughters, Toni Marie Reding of Lexington, KY, Karen Harrington and her husband, Don of New Carlisle, IN, Kim Denny of Osceola, IN and Krista Toth of Chicago, IL; his granddaughter, Heather Gullion (Dee Ann’s daughter); his additional 5 grandchildren; his 14 great-grandchildren; his step-sister, Linda LaFountain and her husband, Mike of Scottsburg, IN and his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Gilbert and Marie Sally (McKenzie) Gullion; his step-mother, Gladys L. Gullion, his brothers, Bill Gullion Sr. and Norvin Gullion and his daughter, Dee Ann Gullion, died March 15, 2022 and his nephew, Billy Gullion Jr.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, IN 47043.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, IN 47043.
