Mr. Larry Gene Peters, age 80, of Pleasant, Indiana, entered this life on July 13, 1941 in Vevay, Indiana. He was raised in Switzerland County and was the son of the late Dale A. and Ida Margaret (Riley) Peters. Larry attended school in the Switzerland County area. On November 4, 1967, Larry was united in marriage to Carolyn J. “Connie Jo” Poling in Patriot, Indiana. Larry was formerly employed for Alton Box Factory as a operator die press for 14 years. He was a self-employed carpenter for eight years and worked for Grote Manufacturing in the press department for five years. In 1991, he was employed for Aurora Casket Company in the shipping department and retired on July 11, 2008. Larry and Connie Jo lovingly cared for 58 children for several years in their home. Larry was a former member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church near Pleasant, Indiana. Larry passed away at 9:36 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022, at his residence in Pleasant, Indiana.
Larry will be missed by Ashley Brinson and her family of Cross Plains, IN, who was like a daughter to him; his sisters, Carolyn Sue Morgan of Vevay, IN and Patricia M. “Pat” Brandon of Aurora, IN; his nephew and niece that he babysitted, David Couch and Tanya Lee Mitchell; his sister-in-law, Crystal Mae (Voris) Peters of Vevay, IN and his other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale A. Peters, died May 19, 1991 and Ida Margaret (Riley) Peters, died April 2, 2002; his wife, Carolyn J. “Connie Jo” (Poling) Peters, died March 2, 2008; his brothers, Raymond Lee Peters, died July 5, 2016, Bobby Joe Peters, died March 7, 2017 and Dale Vernon Peters, died August 26, 2017; his sisters-in-law, Rita L. Peters and Linda Peters; his brothers-in-law, Gary Brandon, Melvin Scudder and Robert Morgan and his niece, Cheryl Lynn Cunningham, died July 16, 2011.
Visitation will held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, by Bro. Hobert Byrd at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
