Mr. James Edward Reed, Jr., age 38, of Frankfort, Kentucky, entered this life on June 12, 1986, in Frankfort, Kentucky. He was the loving son of Bobbie Jo (Conway) and Joe Hodges. He was raised in Frankfort, Kentucky where he attended Western Hills High School. James was employed for the last seven years for Green Solutions Landcare in Lexington, Kentucky and also worked for various factories in Frankfort, Kentucky. James had a passion for life that was evident in everything he did. James found joy in many pursuits, with his motorcycle being his pride and joy. An avid gamer, music lover, and concert-goer, James made connections through his hobbies and interests. James had a passion for being healthy and working out at the gym. He had a special love for animals and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He enjoyed spending time with Ashley and going on several adventures together, especially hiking and taking in the scenery that surrounded them. They had a deep devoted love for each other and their kids. James had a playful spirit and loved to entertain, bringing laughter to those around him as the clown “Jekyll Clern” for Wicked World, a role he embraced that he eagerly anticipated each year. He was a jokester at heart and had a sense of humor and infectious laugh and was known for his playful antics. His fearless nature and ability to make others laugh were among his many superpowers, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. James passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.
James will be deeply missed by his parents, Bobbie Jo (Conway) and Joe Hodges of Frankfort, KY; his daughter, Camaira Jade Reed of Shelbyville, KY; his son, Atticus Arden Reed of Frankfort, KY; his fiancée, Ashley Crane of Lawrenceburg, KY; his bonus son, Raiden Cayde Downey of Lawrenceburg, KY; his brother, Matthew Conway and his wife, Kayla of Vevay, IN and daughters, Maggie and Anna; his sister, Meleanie Smith and her husband, Steve of Louisville, KY and their children, Jimmy, Henry, Amelia and Mary Hazel; his brother, Joshua Hodges of Frankfort, KY and his several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal-grandparents, Matthew Darnell and Georgia Kathryn (Bramblett) Conway and his paternal-grandparents, Frederick Eugene and Hazel Marie (Gaines) Hodges.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Lecompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, 1725 Louisville Road, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.
