Mr. Donald C. Shelton, age 90, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 14, 1927, in Memphis, Missouri, the loving son of the late, John Benjamin and Retta (Bills) Shelton. He was raised in Memphis, Missouri, where he attended high school. Donald was inducted into the United States Navy on April 3, 1945, serving during World War II. He earned the American Area, Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific. Donald was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman First Class on July 6, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri. Donald was united in marriage on June 5, 1947, in Troy, Kansas, to Patricia Evelyn Thompson and to this union arrived thirteen children to bless their home. Don and Pat shared 66 loving years of marriage together until Pat passed away on June 4, 2013. Donald was employed for Monsanto Company in Addison, Ohio, retiring in 1989, after 33 years of service. He was a former Policeman for the City of Rising Sun, Indiana and for Seagram’s Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, for several years. Don resided the past 24 years in the Switzerland County community and will be remembered for his love of golfing. Donald passed away at 2:25 pm. Saturday. February 25, 2017, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Donald will be dearly missed by his daughters: Theresa McAdams of Aurora, IN, Nancy Donegan of Vevay, IN, Tina Gutapfel and her husband: Dan of Sunman, IN, Susan Shelton of Florence, KY and Laura Tice and her husband: John of Vevay, IN; his sons: Kenneth Shelton of Vevay, IN, Paul Shelton and his wife: Chris of Alvin, TX and Marvin Shelton and his wife: Hyong Sun of Fort Hood, TX; his 26-grandchildren and his numerous great-grandchildren; his brother: James Shelton of Fort Madison, Iowa; his sister: Louise Winn of Lawrenceburg, IN; his sister-in-law: Eleanora Hudson of Carthage, IL and his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John Benjamin and Retta (Bills) Shelton; his loving wife of 66 years: Patricia Evelyn “Pat” (Thompson) Shelton, died June 4, 2013; his daughters: Louise Covington and Mary Ann Kuntz; his infant daughter: Linda Mae Shelton; his son: Donald “Rick” Shelton; his infant son: Tracy Shelton; his grandson: Robert Ross Richards; his great-grandson: Cayden Foster; his brothers: Francis, Paul, Lloyd, Gerald, David and Jack Shelton; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arnold L. Thompson and Theresa T. (Wussler) Thompson-Henderson and his sisters-in-law: Arnolda Thompson and Mary Ann Thompson.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Ron Lee at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, March 6, 2017, with Dan Hite officiating, in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, Missouri.
