During a patrol, a deputy drove up on the scene of a two-car accident that happened just moments before the deputy arrived.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Department says that on Thursday around 5:10 PM, Roger Palmer, 45, of Osgood was traveling south on State Road 129 when a small green car crossed the roadway in front of him on State Road 48.

According to police, Palmer was unable to see the vehicle in time and struck the car on its passenger side. Mercedez Smith, 24, of Milan had minor injuries and was transported to Margaret Mary Health.

Mr. Palmer was uninjured and refused treatment on the scene.
