Seymour, In. — Officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation say Aurora-based Paul H Rohe Company will begin bridge decl overlays on three I-74 bridges in May. The work is valued at $1,053,090 and is scheduled to be complete by October 31, 2019
Bridge locations are:
- St. Peters Road over I-74 in Dearborn County
A latex modified concrete overlay will be installed on this bridge after the existing deck overlay has been removed. The project calls for replacement of pavement approaches and bridge joints as well as pier repairs. Temporary signals at either end of the bridge will control one-direction-at-a-time single-lane traffic. I-74’s right shoulders will be closed at times during hydro-demolition and overlay operations.
- CR 100 W over I-74 in Decatur County
A thin polymeric bridge deck overlay will be installed after joints have been replaced and seal work is completed. Bridge piers will also be patched. C.R. 100W will be closed at the structure during overlay operations. Motorists can use the frontage road adjacent to I-74 and US 421 to circumvent the closure. I-74 right shoulders will also be closed at times.
- CR 420 W over I-74 in Decatur County
The C.R. 420W bridge is scheduled to receive at thin polymeric deck overlay after joint replacements. The project also calls for replacement of pavement approaches, surface sealing and pier patching. In addition, an existing 18-inch drainage pipe along I-74’s right shoulder will be replaced by a 30-inch pipe. These operations require a complete closure at the bridge. The state’s detour routes traffic via U.S. 421, S.R. 3 and C.R. 500N. Work also necessitates closing I-74 outside shoulders.
