Moores Hill man killed in altercation

RISING SUN, Ind. — A Moores Hill man has died from injuries sustained in an altercation Monday afternoon.

According to Indiana State Police, an Indiana Conservation Officer responded to an Ohio County 911 call regarding a suspicious person near Rising Sun.

When the officer arrived they made contact with Justin K Holland, 32, of Moores Hill.

During their interaction, Holland began to resist the officer and became involved in a physical altercation.

A female who was nearby came to assist the officer, who was being overtaken by Holland, and fired one shot from her own firearm at Holland and struck him in the torso.

Holland was immediately given first aid, and EMS was notified.

Holland was transported to the Dearborn County Hospital where he soon passed away.

The identity of the Conservation Officer and the female will not be released pending the outcome of the investigation.
