Mont Cavins, 94 of Blanchester, Ohio formally of Moores Hill passed away Wednesday April 27, 2016 at Continental Manor in Blanchester, Ohio. Mont was born Wednesday April 19, 1922 at Harlan, Ky the son of Mack and Dealy (Dash) Cavins. He married Audrey (Dean) Cavins, August 25, 1940 and she preceded him in death January 29, 2000 and later married Ruby Jones (Richardson) Cavins in 2000. Mont was a WWII Veteran of the Army. He retired as a Highway Construction worker from the Local Union #1112 out of Muncie. He was a member of the Church of God in Butlerville, and a member of the International Labor Local Union #1112 out of Muncie. He enjoyed visiting people at the nursing home, building picnic tables for people and spending time with his family.
Mont is survived by Sons: Mont “Jack” (Bonnie) Cavins of Sunman, James “Jim” (Kathy) Cavins of Moores Hill; Sister: Edna (Delbert) Saylor of Blanchester, Ohio; half brother: J.B. Ayers of Virginia; sister: Gladys Lynch of Dry Ridge, Ky. 15 Grandchildren, 34 Great-Grandchildren, 26 Great-Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Audrey Cavins, 3 grandchildren: Roy and Delbert Lee Saylor and Timmy Cavins; one brother: Henry Cavins and one sister: Pauline Hensley.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday April 30, 2016 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sinai Cemetery west of Aurora. Visitation will be Saturday 12-2PM also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Moores Hill Rescue or Donor’s Choice.
