MMH Foundation’s first ever Stop the Stigma 5 K set for September

(Batesville, IN) – The Margaret Mary Health Foundation’s first-ever Stop the Stigma 5K suicide prevention and awareness walk will take place on Saturday, September 23 at Liberty Park in Batesville.

“The walk will start at 10 am, registration will start at 9, and we’ll have a very small program right before the walk that will start about 9:45,” said Foundation Executive Director Jonathon Maple.

He said the walk is being held to raise awareness about suicide prevention and remind those who are struggling they are not alone.

“It’s a meaningful event, and we had some community members approach us and ask if we wanted to be part of this event and we, of course, said for sure, we did,” Maple added.

In 2020 alone, more than 46,000 lives were lost to suicide.

The non-competitive event is designed for walkers and runners of all ages and abilities.

All proceeds benefit the Health Foundation’s Behavioral Health and Addiction Services Fund.
