(Ripley County, IN) – The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says a scam is circulating in which someone is calling residents claiming to be Sgt. Henry Green with the agency.
The scammer is telling people they have missed a court date and need to pay a fine over the phone with a credit card, or an arrest warrant will be issued.
The caller ID coming from the scammer is a spoof of the (812) 689-5558 Ripley County Sheriff’s Office number.
Deputies say there is no one named Henry Green associated with the sheriff’s office, and that they will never ask you to pay a fine over the phone.
