A military veteran put the brakes on an attempted burglary Monday morning, according to North Vernon Police.
Authorities were notified of an alleged burglary in progress at the North Vernon VFW around 5:00 a.m.
Police say a VFW member went to the building when he was notified that the alarm was going off. When the member arrived at the VFW, he found the suspected burglar inside the building. The member was able to detain the suspect until police arrived and took the man into custody.
According to police, Jason Martin, 37, of North Vernon was charged with burglary of a commercial building.
